Start Sharing on LinkedIn

We have been sharing LinkedIn how-to videos for the past couple weeks and are truly impressed with the feedback received from our clients and readers. If you’ve followed the tips provided in last week’s video then you should have a 100% complete profile by now. If not you can view the video here: Create a 100% complete LinkedIn profile.

Today, you will learn how to share valuable information and content with your connections and see how it can help you raise your profile and your reputation.

See below for full video transcript:

Updating your status or sharing news articles are easy ways to help your network learn more about you; and this builds your professional reputation. Just type a note or paste a link in the ‘sharing’ box. You can then choose to make your post visible to anyone who visit your profile or just your connections. You may also edit the sample text to include a key quote that your network might find interesting.

Make sure the Twitter box is checked to publish the same content to your Twitter feed.

Sharing content everyday is a great way to build your reputation in your industry. Try sharing ideas, news articles, events you plan to attend and job opportunities.

  1. But there is such a thing as oversharing! Two now former connections had their Twitter feed set up to share on LinkedIn. Sorry, but I don’t care where you’re eating lunch, about you kids’ soccer practice, or who your hairdresser is. LinkedIn is supposed to be about business. Even those who stick to business topics can share too much. Once or twice a day, great. Ten or more times - I may disconnect you.
