Google is the champ of search engines, and since we know that the average consumer turns to Google more than ever to research relevant products and services, it is more important than ever to turn up in relevant search results. First, as always, having a website is crucial to an advisors success. However, one of the next steps should be creating a Google+ business page – as Google says, “Get you business on Google for free.”
A few reasons why having a Google+ Business Page is important:
- Be found by customers across Google
- Make it east for potential clients to get in touch
- Start a conversation with your web traffic
To create your own Google+ page:
1. Go to http://www.google.com/+/business/ and click Get Your Page
2. Choose local business
3. Type in the Name and Location of your business and select your business or add in the details of your business
4. Click submit, and confirm you are the authorized manager at this business
** Note you will be taken to a page where a red banner will appear to verify your business. Google will manually (aka snail mail) out a verification number which you will need to add to your Google+ business page in order to appear in search results
5. Add in missing information, and logo for your business
6. Click Listing (in the right sidebar) and fill out any additional information highlighted in yellow
Voila! Once you have officially verified your Google+ Business Page, your page will begin to be listed in Google search results.
