Social Media Examiner just published a great video from Facebook Guru, Mari Smith to help you see how optimizing your news feed on Facebook can impact your presence on the social network and allow you to grow your market reach. For instance, did you know that as much as 90% of people of Facebook don’t return of your business page after they’ve clicked the Like button?

Here are some of the tips described in this video:

  • Less is more! By just posting 2 to 5 times a day on your Fan page could mean better engagement with your followers By posting too often, your increase your chances to have fans hiding your updates on their news feed.
  • The shorter your updates, the better. In an ideal world, your want your Facebook updates to be 80 characters or less to optimize your engagement levels.
  • Diversify your updates by making use of Videos, Photos and Questions tend to get better optimization form Facebook algorithm then text updates.
  • Drop the url shortner and use full links instead when you update your business page. By doing that, you will get three time the engagement! Worth trying
  • Facebook’s high traffic window is between 10am to 4pm Eastern Time. Try to post outside of typical business hours and monitor engagement levels. Most Facebook users are active on the social network in the evening.
