Recent Social Media Platform Changes that Can Benefit Your Financial Firm

Not only are more and more social networks constantly popping up, but changes are occurring all the time within existing platforms also. Because things in our digital world do change so fast, every once in a while we like to go over the major updates to your favorite social platforms that will help you market your financial firm. In the past, we have gone over specific Twitter changes and LinkedIn Updates, and today I will discuss a few on LinkedIn and Google, and next week some major changes on Facebook.

Google My Business

Have you been using a Google+ page, Google Maps page and/or YouTube channel for your business? Well Google wanted to make your life a little simpler… Google My Business was developed to make it easier to manage information about your local business information so you will easily “searchable” and found across the Google platform, including Google Maps, Google Search, and Google+. But don’t worry, you will not have to set all your profiles up again. You can just simply connect them all together through this new central dashboard.

LinkedIn Background Photo

In attempts to be more like the other visually appealing social networks, Facebook and Twitter, LinkedIn introduced a background photo that is intended to help enhance and define your professional persona online. Initially it was only available for premium members, but as of mid-September, it began rolling out to all members. The background photo must be smaller than 4MB and should be between 1000 X 425 and 4000 X 4000 in size (pixels). Below is a great example of a background photo expressing message and brand, while conveying a professional feel.

Take Away: This is prime real estate on your LinkedIn profile. Take advantage of this space to display your personality or brand, but remember, we’re talking LinkedIn so keep it professional!

LinkedIn Publisher

Last winter, LinkedIn released its internal publishing tool to limited users and we discussed how it can be used to benefit your firm here - “What LinkedIn’s New Blogging Tool Means for Financial Professionals.” LinkedIn just announced that they will be rolling out this long-form posting tool to all users in the coming month.
