Recent Social Media Changes that Benefit Your Firm’s Marketing Efforts

In the past month there have been some updates to your favorite social platforms that will help you market your financial firm. Not too long ago, we went over the major changes to LinkedIn that advisors should be leveraging, so here are 3 updates that you should utilize on Twitter and YouTube.

TWITTER: Profile Redesign

Why/how should I use this new feature? The new Twitter profile design is now available to all users. To test it out, go to your ‘Me’ tab and click ‘Try the new Twitter profile’ at the top. There are a few awesome new features of this redesign. Not only will you have a larger header photo (1500px x 500px) and avatar photo to work with, but you can also pin tweets to the top of your feed. This will be great for businesses, as you can choose to pin a tweet about a recent time when you were featured in the news or in an article, new products or services that you may be offering or a promotion tweet for an upcoming event. This way, whenever someone comes to your Twitter page, they will see that tweet first and foremost.

YOUTUBE: Intro Videos for Your Channel

Why/how should I use this new feature? Adding an intro to your videos will help to brand your channel and make you more reputable. When the video is shared, even outside of YouTube, the intro will still be there with your name, face or logo. It also adds consistency to your video efforts and helps tie them all together.

Check out the blurb below to learn how to add an intro to your videos:

TWITTER: Photos Collage

Why/how should I use this new feature? Recent studies have found that tweets with an image receive more retweets and interaction. This being said, it is time to take advantage of Twitter’s new photo collage tool. It is an easy way to create an intriguing picture that a follower will be more likely to interact with.

ex. You’re hosting a local educational event and you snap some pictures of yourself and clients. Send a tweet out with these pictures saying that the event was a large success (and don’t forget to tag everyone in the pictures)!

Here is an example of the new Twitter collage used to wish everyone a Happy Earth Day from Financial Social Media, while showing a little company culture at the same time.
