As all good Americans know, the Fourth of July is tomorrow! And while most will be partaking in our Independence Day’s festivities, you can ensure that they will also be perusing social media pictures, checking some last minute emails or searching Pinterest for BBQ recipes. Consumers may be more focused on the burger and beer in their hands, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you will lose the opportunity to reach your audience.
Most individuals and companies are going to be posting pictures or updates to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, so why not join the crowd? Now we’re not recommending that you just post something to post something, but craft an intriguing, festive update or picture that your audience will appreciate. Below we have compiled a few different ways that you can stay in front of your audience on social media tomorrow:
Focus on History & Independence
In the midst of all the fun-filled BBQs and pool parties, it can be easy to forget what this holiday is really about. Take this chance to remind your followers! Post a short thank you to those who have served, share an intriguing quote or link to an informative article (and if possible, combine any of these with a picture or visual element to boost engagement).
Get Personal
We often encourage some separation between your personal and business practices on social media, but that doesn’t mean your social media profiles should always be stiff and professional. Tie a little personality to your brand, because showing that you are similar to your clients and prospects can often deepen relationships. As I always say, “people want to do business with someone that they like and trust.”
Are you the sole advisor or agent within your company? If so, post a picture from your Facebook account at your afternoon BBQ. If not, encourage your employees and staff to post and tweet out their pictures as well, tagging the company. And better yet, do both!
Tap Into Your Location
If most of your followers and clients are located within the same area, share helpful guides and tips about the local parade, festival or fireworks show. Like we said, people will be on social tomorrow, so timely updates about events are always encouraged as well. Check and see if your city has a trending hashtag that might increase your reach. For example, #DenverFireworks is trending right now.

Question Your Followers
Questions encourage a discussion, therefore increasing your chances of engagement. As a general rule, keep your questions open-ended, positive, and most importantly, appealing. And if you can tie it to some element of your business, even better!
Schedule Your Content
Make sure you’re active on social media tomorrow, by scheduling tweets in advance today. Don’t miss out on all the festivities because you’re sitting inside sending out messages on all your platforms. Use a scheduling tool, like Hootsuite or Buffer, or schedule your posts directly on the network of your choosing today. That way you can celebrate with everyone tomorrow as well! And if you happen to snap a photo in the moment on the boat or at the fireworks and post it on Twitter, that won’t hurt either!
No matter what you choose to post on your social networks, remember to keep your existing fans’ likes and interests in mind. If existing fans are more likely to be at a family BBQ than a beer festival tomorrow, post accordingly.
